Significance: The growth of the ranch illustrates the expansion of a small 19th century homestead to one of the largest stock raising operations in the Pinon Canyon area of Las Animas County. One structure, the commissary, reflects not only the large scale operation of the ranch, but also the extreme isolation of those who settled here. Beginning with a 2-room house connected with a breezeway, the ranch expanded to include a newer residence, a bunkhouse, a barn, a commissary, and a garage, all of adobe...
